OK, so I was just havin' a bit of fun with this one. I needed to come up with a card that used this set and used a jumbo wheel for the promo. I didn't have the jumbo wheel that went with the set so I settled for using the Rough Texture Jumbo Wheel for the background. I used the 1 3/4" Circle Punch then I distressed the edges of the circles with the cutting kit distress tool. I used the Crafters Kit to punch the holes around the "enjoy". I then used the double circle punch to attach the turquoise ribbon, then used a turquoise brad in the center of the "O". Fairly easy, just a lot of different tools. You need to look so very close to see the Whisper White craft ink used on this one. I used the corner rounder on all the edges to give it a softer look. I really like the simple elegance of this card. I took a sponge dauber around the edges with Soft Sky ink to add a bit more color everywhere. Here is a list of the supplies I used...

Today it was a Ways to Use It Challenge. You had to make a card that had something to do with music. I couldn't think of anything all morning. I went in my stamp room and just started browsing through my stamps and there it was..."Unfrogettable" I can't even say the name of the stamp set. Every single time I see it, I have to sing the Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole version of the song. So... I sang as I stamped this one. I wish I could figure out how to add a little more detail without overwhelming the card. I love to keep things simple, but this card just looks like it is missing something to me. I stamped the froggie on the prints designer paper and cut him out, then I added his eyeballs later. Here is a list of the supplies I used...

Another Challenge...

This time it was a sketch challenge. I did stray away from Stampin' Up! on this one. I used some designer paper from Daisy D's designs. I wanted the "springy" look because I am SO SICK of winter!! I can't take much more! This card was so much fun to make. I looped a whole bunch of natural hemp twine together, tied it in the middle, then snipped the loops to form the nest. Then I piled 5 dimensionals high and attached the birdie (which I stamped on Bashful Blue cardstock then cut out without the legs). Here is the list of my supplies used...

Color Challenge 155

I did these cards for today's color challenge on http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/. The colors are Basic Black, Whisper White, and River Rock. The first card is super simple. All I did was use a chipboard flower and flower center and covered them with cardstock. I just stamped flowers from Little Pieces and Enjoy Every Moment in River Rock and Basic Black. Super simple, and the colors just "pop"!.

For the second card I used lots of layers and I roughed up all the edges with the Cutter Kit from Stampin' Up!. I used the distressing tool, then went around the edges with a sponge, River Rock ink, and Basic Black ink. Here are the supplies I used...

A Little Birdie...

I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted anything on here! I've been HORRIBLE!! I am just now getting back into the swing of things since Christmas. I also have a new recruit! Welcome to my lil' group Mara! Well, I finally got my order from the new catty. I absolutely LOVE this A Little Birdie Told Me... set. So darned cute!! This is the first card I've made with it (and the only one so far). I paper pieced his little body and wing with the Prints Designer Series Paper in So Saffron, and Rose Red. Lots of layering with Basic Black and the designer paper makes the white really pop. I used dimensionals on the birdie layer as well. Purely Pomegranate is the color I used to make the card. Oh, I also used the Pumpkin Pie marker on his beak and legs. Fun-Fun!

Rhinos in Love

I wanted to make something other than the traditional anniversary card for my husband, so I came up with this! Our 9th Anniversary was yesterday. I can't believe it has already been 9 years. Time goes waaaaaaay to fast!! When I used an Aquapainter on the rhinos the vellum warped a bit, but I left it because it raised the rhinos and kinda feels like rough skin. I thought the accident was really cool! I love when that happens!

I stamped a rhino on one side of the vellum, then flipped the vellum over and stamped him on the other side so they are looking at each other. I just used an aquapainter with Wild Wasabi ink to color them in.

OK so this was actually from a Dirty Dozen challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com. I started it when all the challenges were being posted, but just had a chance to finish it last night. I stamped Linen on the Very Vanilla cardstock first using Versamark. I stamped everything else before the Versamark dried so you can see the Linen pattern through the roses. So I have been a horrible blogger lately! I am sooooo sorry!! I promise I will be better! All the kids are back in school and although that means I am back to work, I will make time for some stamping fun! My baby Nathan started kindergarten this year. My little Alyssa is now in second grade. My sweetie Caleb is now in middle school!! The first day of school was a really, really hard one for me. I think I cried the whole day! I have to share this picture of my baby Nathan as he got on the bus. He was so excited. I started to cry as he pulled away and I think he might have noticed. After the bus was on its way, Nate started to cry. He got in his backpack and ripped open the box of kleenex on the bus. His teacher told me he did calm down quick though once he got to school. I asked him when I picked him up why he opened his kleenex and he said, "Because I needed one..." When I asked him why he said, "Because I missed you." I'm starting to tear up now just typing about it. He is such a sweetie and now such a big boy!

My Surprise Party!!

My husband is truly amazing!!!! I thought he wasn't going to do anything for my 30th birthday this week. Boy did he sure prove me wrong! I went shopping with my Mom on Saturday and came home to a huge "SURPRISE" as soon as I opened the door!!! My husband and my best friend Steph had been planning my party for over a month (I'll leave out the part that I was starting to plan my own party since I didn't think he was doing anything, I'm so embarrassed!)!!! I was so shocked, surprised, embarrassed, and every other thing you can think of! All my family and friends were here! It was truly an amazing day! I'll be posting some of my thank you cards very, very soon! I have the best friends and family anyone could ever ask for! And as far as my husband goes... YOU ARE THE BEST BABE!!!!!!!!! Sorry I ever doubted you!!!!!

Polished Stone Fun

I've had this set for quite some time now, but have only used it maybe once. I'm not sure why either. It is a beautiful set! Maybe I just needed to loose a ton of retired sets to open up my creativity a little bit! So... here is a card using the polished stone technique. If you haven't done this technique before it is very simple to do. Here is a list of the supplies needed...

2-3 classic ink reinkers in different colors (for this I used Always Artichoke, Not Quite Navy, and Gold Encore)

cotton balls

alcohol

glossy white cardstock

Directions: Get your cotton ball a little damp with alcohol (be sure not to saturate it). Add one drop of ink from reinker to cotton ball (I started with Artichoke). Rub all over glossy white cardstock until you get desired look. You can always add a little more alcohol to take a little ink away. Then repeat with a clean cotton ball and next color. Once I get to the metallic color I just barely touch the card in some spots so the gold isn't covering over all the ink. It dries almost instantly because of the alcohol. Viola! You've have a polished stone card!

My trip to West Virginia!

We just got home from a family vacation to West Virginia. I haven't been there for 7 years. All my mom's side of the family lives there. My Mom was born there. We used to go every year (sometimes a few times a year) to visit. Well, ever since my Grandma passed away in December of 1999, I haven't had a desire to go back. I decided to go and my Mom & Dad went too, as well as my husband and kids. We stayed with my aunt & uncle who own 200 acres on the Bluestone River. We had an absolute blast! We rode four wheelers all over, went fishing, ate waaaaaayyyyy to much of my aunt's yummy southern cookin', and I even managed to make it to the mall!! LOL! It was so nice being back there again. My kids are ready to pack up and move there!! My 7 year old daughter told me we just needed to go home and pick up Pepe and Rocky (our dogs), then we could just come right back! It was too cute! I swear, if it were easy to do, I probably would! LOL! Anyway... I'm back and rejuvenated! Hopefully some pretty cool stamp creations will be coming soon!

OK, so I will tell a teensie weensie little bit about the new catty! This set, Bud Basics is in there AND the new In Color Purely Pomegranate! I actually saw a card in the new catty that used this combo and had to give it a whirl! So... the stamp sets used in this card are Canvas & Bud Basics, the ink & paper colors are Purely Pomegranate, More Mustard, and Mellow Moss. I also used Moss Grosgrain ribbon. Funky but it works right?

OK, so I think it is safe to say that so far this is my favorite set from the Preview Catty! I did this card for the Sketch Challenge 129. This one was rather simple. I didn't have a circle cutter so I just used the bottom of a coke can and the bottom of a brads container to cut my circles. They weren't perfect, so I just rouged up the edges with my distress tool. I got my order from the new Stampin' Up! 2007-2008 Preview Catalog! Here is my first card I made. I LOVE this new animal set called Zoofari. It comes with a monkey, snake, zebra, hippo, cheetah, and some chickies! This is such a versatile set. I made this card with my husband's best friend and his wife in mind. I first stamped the solid flower from Pick A Petal on the designer paper and cut that out. Then I stamped the cheetahs and cut them off, I cut their heads off too. I attached their head onto the flower, then attached the flower to their bodies! Super cute baby card huh?

Chocolate Balmy Breezes

This is a super simple card that looks like it took hours to create. I used two stampsets (Balmy Breezes and Everyday Flexible Phrases), and two colors of ink (Very Vanilla craft ink and Chocolate Chip classic pad). The cardstock I used is all Stampin' Up! (Chocolate Chip, Confetti Cream, and Au Chocolate Designer Series paper). I also used my bone folder to rough up the edges and a sponge to add a little "pop" of color to the edges of all the cardstock pieces. Here is how to make this simple masculine card...

I started by making the card out of Chocolate Chip cardstock. Then I stamped various stamps from Balmy Breezes in Very Vanilla Craft ink. While I waited for my craft ink to dry, I stamped the large palm tree using Chocolate Chip classic ink. I stamped words from Everyday Flexible Phrases around the palm tree. I distressed the edges with a bone folder and sponged on some Chocolate Chip ink around the edges. I layered the Confetti Cream cardstock and Au Chocolate paper, sponging and distressing the edges as I went. I attached the Palm Tree piece with Stampin' Dimensionals to make it pop. There you have it... a wonderful masculine card that will make a great Father's Day card for any Dad!

I don't know about you, but I was shocked by the number of retiring sets this year. Usually in the past, I have had around 15 of my personal sets retire, but this year... I HAVE 62 sets and 8 wheels!!! How crazy is that? Here are some of my absolute favorites and the reasons I'm so sad to see them go...

Best of Cluck - my absolute favorite set EVER, well other than Birthday Banter which retired last year. Why oh why are you taking my chickies away? I will never part with this one!!
Crusin' Christmas - I just think this set is hilarious!

Mixed Bouquet - Waaaahhhh!! I'm crying like a baby over this one! This is one of my favorite all time sets! Super simple to create cards with and very versatile. I was shocked when I saw this one leaving! This set is a must have!
Petal Prints - Another must have! This set is beautiful with the watercolor crayons, or ink it up and spray a mist of water before stamping. Beautiful!
In Full Bloom - Beautiful, beautiful set! I've used this set for everything from invitations, to sympathy. Great set to use with Dazzling Diamonds glitter or microbeads! Definitely must have!
Roses In Winter - Originally I was going to part with this one, but I am beginning to rethink it. I took me awhile to get used to this set, but once I did... I was hooked. Buy this one before it is gone!
Watercolor Garden - This is my next favorite after Best of Cluck. It was also a set that I earned free through Stampin' Up! This set is great for making note cards, stamping on candles, coasters, or anything that you want to look elegant. If you don't have this set... buy it!! You won't regret it!
Balmy Breezes - This is a great masculine set.
All-Year Cheer I, II, and III - These are GREAT sets! Buy one, or buy them all, but don't let these get away! I am keeping my fingers crossed that Stampin' Up! will come up with something as versatile as these!
Whimsical Alphabet Lower - What a great alphabet set for monogramming. I'm sad to see this go!

Meet Pepe!

Oh my goodness! Meet my new little bundle of joy Pepe! I never thought I would get another doggie after my Spike Baby passed away, but the way this one worked out showed to be fate! I rescued Spike from a shelter when he was 6 years old. I feel like the 8 years of his life that I had him were the best he ever had! I knew he had been abused when I got him and once he started to trust me, he was my baby and no one elses. I started to think about how good it felt knowing that I made his little life better, so I started browsing shelters on the internet for a new little baby. My friend Kim, used to always call Spike "Guido" because she said he looked like the mob boss of the family. Another dog that I had found at a shelter wasn't working out so I figured I would do one last search before I gave up for awhile. I did a search for a chihuahua rescue group and I saw this site. It said Bird rescue so I didn't look to hard, but then I noticed they had dogs. I saw a chihuahua they had whose name was Guido. I sent an email to Betty, the owner, and she called me shortly after. I told her the story about Spike and we set up the appointment for me to meet Guido. From the second I saw Guido I knew he was my new baby. He instantly went running to my kids and was jumping up from the ground to give them kisses. Betty knew he was perfect too. She told me that they found Guido two weeks before and she had already turned down a couple of applications for him. She said she knows it was "meant to be" because I lost my Spike Baby two weeks ago, and the fact that my friend always called Spike, Guido! WOW!! So... here I am with my new nine month old purebred chihuahua that I rescued from a shelter! I am going to start trying to raise money and take donations to her rescue shelter. Betty, the owner of Bird Frenzy Rescue, is doing this for all the right reasons and I appreciate her so much for it! He looks to sweet to be a Guido, so I did change his name to Pepe. I will always remember how I found him and know that God and Spike had a hand in finding my new furbaby for me!

Bye-Bye Spikey! I'm going to miss you!

Well, my baby doggie Spike passed away on Wednesday, April 25th. It broke my heart. He was 14 years old. I rescued him from a shelter and he has been my baby doggie for many, many years. He was just like a kid to me and I am going to miss him terribly!! He wouldn't let me go anywhere without him. I feel like I'm roaming everywhere and I'm missing something now. Rest in peace my little baby Spike!

I have been a HORRIBLE Blogger lately! I've been so busy! I am making a promise right now that I will be better! I finally ordered my Prismacolor pencils and let me just say, they are the greatest things EVER!! You must use odorless mineral spirits to get this bold look. These are artist colored pencils. All you do is color your image, then dip a paper stump in your odorless mineral spirits, and blend the color all around. The color is bright and just beautiful! Here are a couple of my very first cards I did with my new Prismacolor Pencils!

I am very glad to have had a very successful stamp class last weekend. Everyone seemed to love all the projects. I have been so blessed to have such fun and loyal customers. I must admit, we really had a lot of fun on Sunday! Sorry again about forgetting the food!! I was so embarrassed!! ANYWAY... this is one of the fun projects we made with the Very Punny Sell-A-Bration set on Sunday, February 18th.

I came up with this extremely simply project for my last workshop. All I did was use the Sell-A-Bration Simply Scrappin' Kit, Just Delightful, and a Very Vanilla Pocket Note. I cut off a piece of one of the self adhesive strips and cut it to fit the Pocket note. Then I just placed a self adhesive flower and leaves over that. I also added a tiny self adhesive flower to the envelope. This super cute and simple card took less than a minute to complete! I LOVE simple!!

Well I finally decided to start my own blog since so many of my friends have one now. I have been an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for about 4 years now and I love all types of papercrafting. I have been published in Birthday Creations Volume 2 by Papercrafts and I am hoping to have many more cards published in the future. I mainly make cards but I would love to spread my wings and start scrapbooking as well. I am just a little intimidated by my amount of pictures. Maybe one of these days I'll muster up enough courage to take a stab at it.
